Microplastics – for years, scientists have warned about microplastics polluting oceans, wildlife, and even bottled water…
But recent studies confirm something even more alarming…
These microscopic plastic fragments have been found in human bloodstreams, organs, and cells – which means they´re no longer just out there but inside the body…
And they´re causing us harm!
A breakthrough study from Columbia University has uncovered exactly how these toxic shards form.
Help deactivate the ‘silent’ cause of your memory loss!
Have you been growing increasingly concerned about your mental health? Forgetting things, struggling to find the right words, not coping with day-to-day challenges?
If so, you’re not alone. More than half the world’s population suffers from some form of mental degeneration by the age of 60…
So, if you’re having more senior moments than you used to…
If brain fog, fatigue, and memory problems are slowing you down…
How microplastics are formed and how they get into your body…
Plastic is practically unavoidable in modern life. It’s in food packaging, clothing, cosmetics, electronics, and everyday items we use without a second thought.
Over time, this plastic breaks down into microscopic fragments, known as:
* Microplastics – Small plastic particles (under 5mm).
* Nanoplastics – Even tinier particles, invisible to the naked eye.
Scientists have found microplastics in human placentas, lungs, breast milk, and now, even blood (Leslie et al., 2022).
But how do they get there?
In this study, researchers at Columbia University wanted to understand the precise mechanism behind plastic breakdown.
They discovered that most plastics used in consumer goods (about 75-80%) are made of semicrystalline polymers. These materials contain alternating layers of rigid and soft structures.
* Hard layers keep plastic strong and durable.
* Soft layers degrade over time, weakened by heat, UV light, and oxidation.
As these soft layers weaken, the underlying hard layers fracture, forming sharp, brittle shards – the nanoplastics that linger for decades or even centuries.
These fragments, small enough to penetrate human tissue, have now been found inside human bodies.
Once inside the body, microplastics don’t just sit passively, they cause biological harm:
* Trigger chronic inflammation which is linked to heart disease, arthritis, and neurodegeneration (Prata et al., 2020).
* Carry toxins & heavy metals – they act as sponges for pesticides, industrial pollutants, and carcinogens.
* Disrupt hormones and immune function. They interfere with endocrine regulation, affecting metabolism and reproduction.
* Damage DNA which raises the risk of cancer and other genetic mutations.

How to help protect against the negative effects of microplastics…
Bottled drinking water contains significantly more plastic particles than tap water. Invest in a reverse osmosis filter to eliminate plastic particles from tap water (or bottled water).
Food packaging: Heating food in plastic accelerates contamination. Use glass or stainless-steel containers.
Synthetic clothing: Fabrics like polyester shed tiny fibres into the air.
Household dust: Carpets, upholstery, and electronics release airborne microplastics. Use High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) air purifiers to filter airborne microplastics.
Support your detox pathways: Stay hydrated, exercise, eat foods rich in fibre and antioxidants, and take an antioxidant supplement to help your liver and kidneys eliminate contaminants.
