The data was collected during eight years, ending in 2019, from veterans aged between 40 and 99…

Those who adopted all eight habits were 13% less likely to die during this period compared to those who applied none of them…

These are the eight healthy habits:

* Being physically active
* Not smoking
* Managing stress
* Following a healthy diet
* Not drinking alcohol excessively
* Maintaining good sleep hygiene
* Keeping positive social relationships
* Not developing an opioid addiction

They´re not all equal in terms of their weight on your health…

Low physical activity, opioid use and smoking had the biggest impact on an individual’s lifespan (these people had a 30-45% higher risk of dying during the study)…

Stress, drinking alcohol excessively, poor diet, and poor sleep hygiene were associated with a 20-30% increase in the risk of death…

The lack of positive social relationships was associated with a 5% increased risk of death…

And living with anxiety or depression is associated with a 8% higher risk of premature death…

These habits were also associated with a reduced risk for chronic diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular disease…
