Review of studies confirm EPA and DHA can be more effective than migraine drugs…

The authors of a review involving 6,616 participants and 40 randomised, controlled studies assessed the data of studies involving eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which are omega-3 fatty acids, found in fatty fish like herring, mackerel and salmon…

They found that dosages of 900mg to 1500mg of these fatty acids were more effective than pharma drugs in the prevention and treatment of migraines.

The level of acceptability was similar to the other treatments, so we know that EPA and DHA are tolerable (participants didn´t stop taking them or dropped out of the studies)…

And the health supplements were also associated with fewer side-effects.

Generally, these are mild anyway and involve a fishy after-taste, bloating and nausea.
