Scientists have noticed that men who eat more tomatoes – especially cooked ones like tomato sauce or paste – tend to have a lower risk of developing prostate cancer. One large study found that eating more than 10 servings of tomato products per week was linked to an 18% lower risk. Cooking tomatoes actually makes lycopene easier for the body to absorb, especially when eaten with a bit of healthy fat like olive oil.

Lycopene seems to work by calming inflammation, slowing down the growth of abnormal cells, and helping damaged cells die off before they become dangerous.

Green Tea: a gentle daily prostate defence:

Green tea has been a staple in Asian cultures for centuries, and it turns out it’s not just soothing, it’s also packed with protective compounds called polyphenols…

One of the most powerful is EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), which has been shown to interfere with cancer cell growth.

In one study, men who had a precancerous condition called high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (HGPIN) were given green tea extracts. After a year, only 3% of them developed prostate cancer, compared to 30% in the placebo group.

EGCG seems to block the signals that tell cancer cells to grow and divide. It may also help prevent the formation of new blood vessels that tumours need to survive. Drinking two to three cups of green tea a day may be a simple way to support prostate health over time.

Curcumin has been studied for its anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. It works by targeting multiple pathways that cancer cells use to grow, spread, and avoid death.
